I have news to share ….

December 12, 2017

Hello All,

Thank you for taking the time to read our exciting news. You may have seen me mention on the Connect the dots instagram and Facebook page that we have some news to share regarding Connect the dots in 2018. The  time has come where I can announce what the news is!

Keep reading below…..

Those of you who have followed my journey with Connect the dots will have seen how far we have come from our very humble beginnings. I started Connect the dots in 2013, off the back of an illness, as a blog and since then we have grown to deliver services to Sydney and also the mid north coast (Bellingen). The team at Connect the dots has expanded from myself, to a  group of bloggers and today the team consists of 5 facilitators at each retreat, a coach in Sydney, Collaborations with many different people including working on Embody love workshops, Womens circles, Healing circles, yin and sound healing workshops and mindfulness and chakra workshops. I have been blown away by the people we have worked with in those workshops and also the individuals I have worked with 1:1. I notice my absolute excitement and gratitude at how far we have come, where we are now and what is to come. I am grateful and heartened  to announce that next year we will have two spaces to run our services out of. Our first space will be a retreat and workshop space in the lovely Glennifer region of Bellingen. On our sacred land we will hold retreats, shamanic work and also offer the space for other like minded individuals to hold their sacred retreats, workshops and creations. Secondly, we have also just confirmed a space for Sydney!

As of February 1st, 2018, Connect the dots will be taking over the business and health centre has been in business for 9 years under the ownership of Kathy Grace. Kathy has solidly built the business up to create a loving and sacred space with 11 experienced yoga teachers. In August this year Kathy reached out to let me know of her plans and wondered if I would like to take over the beautiful space she has created.  My husband asked if I  would regret not taking it and the answer was a clear Yes, so here we are today, about to embark on a journey of expanding the business in to a fully functioning wellness centre. Dreams really can and do come true and I am looking forward to seeing what emerges in this space. https://www.gracefullyfit.com.au

We are also looking to expand for the exchange and will be inviting  practitioners to join our expanding team so if you or someone you know is looking to join an values aligned team then please email me at kate@connecthedots.com.au

I look forward to meeting new faces and reconnecting with those already on the journey together.

To each and everyone of you that has supported the blog and services over the last few years…….thank you. From the depths of my heart, I wouldn’t be motivated to do this work without each of you.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and blessed 2018.

Warmest blessings,

The size of your body has nothing to do with your worth. Nothing.

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection – Buddha

Hi All,

This was a research project from last year based on analysing yoga in the treatment of Bulimia Nervosa and also Gestalt Psychotherapy. Both are holistic and clinical frameworks which have mounting evidence in the effectiveness of treatment. Worth a read for those looking to explore options of treatment in their eating disorder or with disordered eating/body image.

After recently attending a Buddhist meditation I rediscovered how closely happiness is linked with acceptance

Happiness can exist only in acceptance – George Orwell

This came at a perfect time for me, as I was unhappy with circumstances and was feeling stressed. The patient practice of acceptance helped. I hope you enjoy this post as you stretch along your own journey of acceptance.

For the friends & clients who have asked for this work & for those who need some hope to keep going…

Know that there are always options. A therapist who works with the body and mind can make a huge difference

Please share this post with people that may benefit from an understanding of bodywork, particularly yoga and how it is effective in the treatment of trauma. This article also explains the integrated work of Gestalt Psychotherapy.

Intuition is the process of knowing yourself, knowing your boundaries and following your instincts in life

“You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself ” – Alan Alda

The dictionary definition explains intuition as being the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. Interestingly, fear can often mask intuition- and the two are closely related. When we follow our intuition, the outside world responds to our trust. We don’t avoid any of life’s challenge’s, however we begin to recognise the flow that occurs when we lean ever so gently in to knowing ourselves on a deeper level.

This yummy slice isn’t too sweet and is a great dose of protein & cacao – perfect for morning or afternoon treats

So, it’s been a while since creating in the kitchen. A good friend saw a Snickers cake and put me to the test… and I loved making this one!

It’s easy enough – not too expensive and was an absolute hit with those who tasted it!

Comfort Versus Growth

One of my favourite quotes is by Marianne Williamson. She says,

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us”

Boy this struck a chord, like all powerful things do.

This quote keeps coming back around for me… because it is true. It’s not a light and fluffy inspirational quote or a suck it up and try harder type of quote (which is bullshit btw), this is a quote that is authentic and true and flows into many layers of our society.
